FUN FACTS of each Ingredient

Sugar is an organic AHA ( Alpha Hydroxy Acid)
this enables it to treat sun damage due to over exposure. Be aware that when using AHA's they can make one's skin extremely sensitive to the sun so take proper precaution. I like to use this scrub at night in order to give my skin a chance to rest and recover from exfoliating the top layer of dead skin cells off.

Vanilla is an Anti Inflammatory and Anti-Bacterial

Due to this scrub being home made its very important to incorporate some skin care ingredients that yield dual purposes. The anti-bacterial properties help protect the mixture from mold. Of course one of the biggest pluses of using vanilla extract is that is smell damn good!

Tangerine is Antiseptic

I was confused about what the difference was between antibacterial and antiseptic properties but to put it simply antiseptics hinder the growth and reproduction of micro organisms, fungi, and viruses among many others. Substances with anti-bacterial properties inhibit the growth of bacteria. According to an article I found on Dr. Mercola's website this essential oil reaps healing benefits on an extremely deep level "It has cytophylactic properties and aids in restoring damaged tissues in the body. It helps reduces the appearance of scars and stretch marks". Although I can't attest to these claims, the Godly/Heavenly smell of tangerine is enough incentive for me to use it.

Olive Oil Prevents Free-Radical Damage

It contains powerful antioxidants to help ward off those cell corrupting molecules. Free radicals are highly reactive molecules that damage DNA, cells, and protein. The naturally occurring high amount of vitamin E and polyphenols help to fend off free radicals.

Now On To the Organic Ingredients!

*Important Note* Mixing the liquids separately from the sugar is vital to achieving the most even mix for scent and scrub consistency purposes.
