DRY to JUICY Deep Conditioning Routine: In this post I will be sharing how I take my curly hair from DRY AF to
Juicy, hydrated and ready for good hair days using my deep conditioning
routine.
STEP 1 PRE-POO
I always start my deep conditioning routine with pre-pood hair. The method I am currently using is inspired by Ayervedic hair care via Naptural85. She is one of my absolute FAVORITE hair gurus because I always learn some new, unconventional and creative ways to take care of my hair so it can thrive.STEP 2 CLARIFY w/ ACV RINSE
Clarifying with apple cider vinegar is such a good way to get a fresh start with your hair. I not only use it for its great benefits for the scalp and hair but I mainly use it to rid my hair of any product build up so the deep conditioner can penetrate the hair shaft more effectively. This is is an important step to take because build up can cause dryness, breakage and dull hair. For curls those attributes are no bueno.STEP 3 RINSE w/ WARM WATER & SHAMPOO
This step is pretty self explanatory but really massage your scalp with warm water first and then shampoo to get the smell of the apple cider vinegar. I will be honest the smell isn't great but it is WELL worth it and won't compromise the yummy smell of the other products you choose to put in your hair.STEP 4 DEEP CONDITION w/ DIY HAIR STEAMER CAP
Fully saturate your hair with any deep conditioner of your choice, mine is a DIY deep conditioner made out of avocado and banana. If it was my weekly routine like my Lazy wash day routine I would be using this mask Jamaican Black Castor Oil Intensive Strengthening Masque that has strengthening and moisturizing properties due to the Jamaican black castor oil. I braid my hair in two and place them on the top of my head so the heat can reach my ends a bit better.FAVORITE HAIR HACK (D.I.Y Hair Steamer Cap)
I make my own hair steamer cap by using two shower caps and a wet washcloth! All you do is put on a plastic or foil cap and hold it in place with a second cap, peep the video for detailed instruction above. When the heat from the dryer hits the wet rag it produces steam which helps to aid the ability of the deep conditioner to penetrate the hair shaft properly. Your hair will thank you if you choose to use this hack.STEP 5 RINSE w/ ICE COLD WATER
To ensure your hair holds on to the nutrients it received during the deep conditioning process rinse with cold water and then seal it in with aloe vera juice before styling.Until next time,
Love, Light, and Good Vibes
Mish ✌
